Not sure if this is in the right place.

I have been asked to do some testing with a ram box by a guy here in Belfast. He plans on making them from Fibre Glass and also in Carbon Fibre. He is still working on pricing but he expects them to be under £150 + P&P (Fibre Glass) for the whole lot. Package will be Tray, Lid, Carb Inlet Trumpets and Ram Air Tube.

He also plans on making fairings but these will not be available until next year, again these will be available in Fibre Glass and Carbon Fibre.

Would anyone be interested. I am trying to get discount for racers and forum users.

How much is he expecting to sell the fairings for?

Dont know at the minute, He has to make a mould first and work costs from that, but he plans on being competitive. It will be October before he starts on fairings as we are working on doing something different from the rest.

Well as far as im aware theres no one who makes carbon fairings for the ZXR so he'll have a nice little niche market there.

Interested but it would depend on the design. For example:-

1) needs to sit round the carb inlet rubber rather than between them and the head.
2) Needs to allow access to plugs without taking off carbs
3) needs to accomodate flatslides or CV's
4) Snorkel should have a short (top of radiator) and a long (front of fairing) option

If it does all that and comes at £150 plus pp - put me down for one

Will be looking at various options, I have told him the issues I have and what needs improved on a practical basis.

I can get to the plugs by removing the short snorkel on my ram air box. No need to pull the carbs, much less the airbox.

To get at the plugs with the airbox in situ, you'd be looking at the smalle kidney shaped airbox type with less volume.

I run this, and have a full sized airbox to fit.

Not sure what advantage the bigger volume has, if any....

Ok the japanese kit airbox you can remove the snout over the radiator from within the airbox to get to the plugs, can be done quickly.

what's the average hp gain with a ram air kit? I'm running a 440 engine with beet pistons and light modified stock air box..

I got 4 BHP from a standard engine.

Sounds interesting but honestly I hoped the gain would be bigger..

Some companies quote 10BHP but it also depends on the state of tune of your engine. I will be getting mine re-dynoed as I have adjusted the neddles and have an ECU that now revs out to 15660, (16500) on the clock. So we will see if it has gained anymore.
