New back end ;-)

Post by dr-6pot »

Hi and i have been registered sometime now , but due to my mother falling ill , i havnt been able to get on much , but all is well now and ive started work on the bike.
Here she is a few months in , polished the fram and swinging arm and a few other bits

painted the hugger white

then the fun begins, after doing a search for a nice rear end , i started making my own ,this has involed cutting of the zxr side panel and matching to an R6 rear end, and under tray.

back in place but no zxr panel
Image

zxr panels cut ready to join

few brackets made to join the pair then some mesh , ready for fibre glass , the rear frame has been totally moded and ill do some photos of that later,

filler section betwween seats
Image

quite a few hours work and ive used the original front seat but made a rear pad to fit the back end, all in filler primer now.

finally looking like a bike again :excited

first coats of paint last night , green and pearl , no clear on it yet ,

hugger is now green , as the undertray will be pearl and it would look to much white at the rear

so thats where im at , just waiting for the guy to deliver the undertray and lights so i can paint and fit that , tonight i will paint the blue the clear, flat and polish the week end, ill do my best to keep posting as and when , hope you like it winks

i dont normally like "funny backends", but thats a good job you've done there .. if the pillion pad section was parallel to the top of the tank it'd be even better..

what are you painting it with ? 2k or rattle cans ?

i did have it with it level with the tank , but looks silly far to low and the udertray lights would face down and not the same angle as the r6, the r6 uses the seat pad to correct the angle , this is only my first vesion of the seat and the next one will apear more parallel, saying that it looks more angled in the picture than it does when the bike is stood up straight in the flesh, im using spray cans mixed by Jawel paints.

great work excellent skills, but your gonads are gonna get smashed into the tank constantly, the angle is just too high!
Just my opinion

looks high , but in fact the front seat will still be at the same angle as the standard bike, made sure of that with steel work and pading , so no damage to me or me bits, the seat isnt fitted in the picture so you cant see it , the very tip of the back end is only 50mm higher tham the standard zxr bike panel , just less of that saggy fat back end under it :pmsl ,

really happy i spent the time and effort to finish the bike in the same colors , and not go for the simple "paint the whole thing black white or solid green and stick ninja stickers on it :smt018 " makes the bike look standard ,,,almost.
