It's off a fresh import from Japan.

I've looked in the Workshop manuals for the H & L Models at both of the types of tensioner and it doesn't seem to fit the description of either one :smt009

Bikes weird!

i have both old and new style tensioners and neither look like that, looks like the newer style principal with two springs and a bolt in the bottom.

Didn't think it's standard!

You can't reset it per se.. you just shove it in and when you tighten the bolt up a little it stops it dropping back down as it pushes the bearing out against the little collar.

Odd.. wonder what it came off :D

Hi,

That looks very much like my old tensioner I had on my 1988 zx400 engine. You might be lucky and have a zx400 engine or just the tensioner.

Because some people call the zxr400... lzx400, previous owner might of got a new tensioner from a zx400 calling it zx and not zxr?

Ask Zimm, he prob knows more about zx400s then me.

Regards

Rich

Yip, it's a ZX-4 tensioner , I got recommended to use the last edition L's tensioner on all engines - that was from a Kawasaki racing team ex-rider.

Gt one of those motors in my cupboard that's needing ripped down and cam's swapped into another :smt003
