There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Fitting SP cams and std pistons

Post by wes »

Hi,

I have got a standard (reputably an L) engine, to which I want to put my flowed head with SP cams.
I am hoping the head will fit straight on, as i am not removing the base gaskit at the moment.
On lifting the standard head, I was suprised that the pistons are different to what I have seen before.
My previous engine, and all those I have seen before have the pistons like the one on the left with the 4 valve hollows, whereas the pistons fitted has a rectangle crown.
Can anyone advise as to whether the SP cams will fit ok with these and what spec they are.

Cheers in advance

they are the feared flat-top low(er) compression import pistons found in some mid L's (L3-L5 ?)

they'll work .. but you want the other ones in there really.
