There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

jake wrote:another thing im not clear on. If i was to use the blue uk cdi, would i still need to wire in the resistor?
yes, its an anti theft thing, not a performance thing
jake wrote:and ( one for zimm or greville or anyone else using the programable cdi) would i need to have said resistor in place for this?
cheers
no, it doesnt know about it, just feed it 12v, iirc it doesnt even have a pin for the wire that goes back to the OE box..

Geffro wrote:Not good! Wired the race loom with total loss, the bike seems to be turning over but not as fast as it used to, as if the battery was dying infact! The only thing I think it could be is that I used a 0.5 watt instead of a 0.25 watt resistor, surely this wouldnt be the problem tho? :smt017 Only 6 days till my first race..... not good!!! :smt010 cheers!

long shot .. but ... have you had the genny cover off to remove gubbins ... or just done the loom ?

if the genny cover has been off has the gasket been ommitted ? or the case over tightened.. in either case there'd be too much pressure on the starter idler gear.. will make it V hard for the starter to spin it over (the gaskets a spacer as much as a seal), slacken the case off and see if it helps

I've got an interesting situation now! Got the new "Blue M 1332" CDI today & the resistor is showing 99.2ohms so no probs there, but still no spark!?! Tested for voltage at the coils, 12v between green & earth "BK/Y", 12v between black & earth aswell. Could both the ignition coils be ruined, seems strange?

Anyone with an H model doing this make sure you get an L CDI & change the terminals on the CDI Plugs to match the L.

Would anyone care to make me a race loom to this diagram if i send them my std loom? but keep the oil warning light

Does the kill switch act as the ign switch with this setup?

I obviously dont expect it to be done for free!

there is a black and yellow wire that joins to the battery negative, does this need a diode or something in it, just i dont have the bit that joins it to the battery and in the diagram there is something on it.

The black and yellow is just the negative earth that runs throughout the bike. Having made one of these myself recently I dont remember anything in the wiring only. Only the anti hotwire resistor in the grey wire.

Dunno if this helps :smt017
