hi noticed on dyno that the front wheel moves backwards towards engine when giveing it some stick ???? got me thinking that frame or forks were flexing ? has anyone else noticed? anyway did a bit o head scratching and traced it to the yokes ! ive made some stronger ones ! my question is do you think it will destroy a sweet handleing bike or improve it ???

IF and it is a big if your forks or frame where flexing while your bike was on the dyno I'd be surprised if you could create the same flex in riding it.

and of course there is also the likeyhood that it was your headstock bearing that were loose.

I'd love to see your home made yokes have you got a picture ?????

I have seen the effect you are talking about on the dyno, it is quite common, not sure if it is only in the yokes or a combination of frame, forks & yokes flexing.
The bike will flex that much under braking. Think about braking hard into a 1st or 2nd gear corner enough to make the back end start to sweep on you.
I get a light rub on the front of the belly pan at times. In the frames for the kit ZX7r kawasaki used to cut out the inside of the frame weld in a horizontal plate to the headstock & outer skin then weld the inside back up.
How do you find the rear brake caliper bracket, is it enough to resist the torque from the rear brake as I have been thinking about a similar conversion.
Btw loverly machine work, you are not thinking about going into production al all.

thanks for comments and cheers for putting pics up cargo ! my computer skills are the worst ! no how to post pics now tho ? [send em someone who does no]things are pretty bad at work weve been on flat cap all year ! hence to much time to think about frame / fork flex ?? to be honest both bikes handle mint [thanks to maxton front and rear] ive really only ever had one problem [braking into park corner at darley on the bumps] and this is the only place tyre very slightly touchs belly pan?? anyhow top yoke made a diff not had tyre touch yet and been useing them 6 months ??? not tryed bottom yoke yet or caliper bracket [sums add up ] but will report back when i have! caliper bracket is stronger than the one on my zx10r wich is cast ? we clamped a standard yoke up and put a 2metre tube on stem it bends real easy ? dont get as much wiv new ones ? see what happens cheers again regards tony
