Right i have know clue how to fix pretty much anything on my bike oil change is best i can do, sad i know and i'm quite jealous about that, but i have looked at a few helpful-ish threads to people who know what their doing but its hurting my head lol so maybe someone can help. Yesterday i went out on my bike and heard this noise coming from the engine which sounded like something was stuck inside the fairing and clicking against the wheel as it turned, if ive explained that well enough? went back home and could still hear it when i put my head near the side - very loud ticking sound. Took my battery out and put it on charge - as according to the battery charger it may need replacing soon and doesnt seem to be holding its charge for very long anymore so thought that might be the cause but put that back and its still there, if not louder. I'm guessing from all the posts its a common problem? i'm probably going to have to take it to a garage as i dont want to end up making more problems for myself. If it is just something like the cam chain or valve clearence how much should it cost me?
Hope i made myself clear enough and all, and thanks in advance.

Re: Usual problem... Ticking noise!!
Clicking ticking rattling from the engine could be a number of things
Exhaust header gasket blowing.
Camchain worn and loose
Faulty camchaon tensioner
valve clearance needs adjusting
broken or worn rocker arm ot arms
broken valve
worn big end bearing...............thats more of a knocking sound
broken piston ring.
Where are you cos to be honest best way is for someone who has some knowledge to listen to it.
Certainly if your local to me I'll come look for you

Does the ticking get faster as you rev the engine ?
A very light ticking might only be valave celarance or maybe exhaust header gasket

sorry i didnt get back to you as i dont have internet where i live atm but anyway took bike to a garage and he took it out for a full run, tested it and said its only cam noise and nothing wrong with the bike at all so thats good news, just gotta get used to a different sounding engine i guess, heavier ticking noise from engine but he said hes heard alot alot worse.
