Timing and Tensioner Blade Q's (with Pics)

Post by jackdim »

Being paranoid here, I'm 95% sure what I'm doing is right however I just wanted to double check with you lot as this is my 1st 4t motor build and a lot of £ and time is at stake if I f*** it up.

Which way around does the tensioner blade go (new style tensioner), this way?

Or this way?

Also is this timing correct? Looks the same as others on the forum to my eye.

The 2nd picture looks like it makes more sense to me. Just had a quick look in the fiches and in the exploded diagram the pointed spigot is neither of those, looks like its turned 90 degrees with the pointy bit nearest to you.

Interested about the timing thing, youd need to know what cylinders are top dead centre and turn the cams 180 degrees accordingly from where they are to where the cams need to be. Where the pickup timing mark is in that pic the cams marks will either face each other or oppose on each revolution of the pickup. So as i say youd need to know what cylinders are TDC.
