Tyre Scrubbing

Hi all, bit off a new bie question, but if I can't ask it here where can I!! Will be picking my L4 up next week and its just had new tyres fitted front and rear, plus new front discs. How many miles will it take to scrub the tyres in and is there anything I can do to speed/help the process.

I can have them sorted for a hard ride in about 20 mins. but im sure its supposed to be 100miles or something according to the manufacturers.
What tyres you had put on? All i do is make sure i scrub the shine off in that 20 minutes, and make sure you get the tyres up to temp before pushing it, is always a good genral rule.
Just dont try get your knee down on the first corner you'll be reet.

Just take it easy for a bit, gradually leaning etc. Seeing as your new to the bike anyway, i don't see it being much of a problem.

Cheers for the advice folks, will take it easy for the first few weeks and just get to know the bike. Hopefully by then both tyres will be sorted.

Personally, I love scrubbing them in (in the dry) and I'd say 10 miles is enough as long as you're ready to catch it when it slides.

A good tip for newbies is get yourself on the motorway for a junction because that should heat your tyres up nicely, then have a go at your favourite road but without pushing too hard.

If the roads are wet just ride like a Granny until you get a dry run.

if your at a track its the warm up lap...ie about a mile!

Normaly what i do is take it easy slowly leaning it over more and more then just ride normaly from then on. I've herd of people sitting at home with sandpaper before they even put them on the bike, really is no need

I think most tyres are so good these days that even the touring compounds are grippy enough that you have to be a bit silly to make them let go - even out of the box. All the top manufacturers seem to have made a few massive leaps in tyre technology even in the 8 or 9 years I've been riding. These are good times!
