Gonna be going to Brands Hatch on April 20th for a novice session on track. I have never been on track before and will be taking the ZX636 (sometimes wish I still had the 400) A little worried about dropping the bike but looking forward to seeing what the bike will be like on track.
Any advice or pointers for a first track day?

make sure you take it steady on your first session, and get to know the track.
every session, MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR TYRES WARM! then you can start to give it some beans.
remember that its only a track day day, and not a race, so just enjoy yourself.

That's what I keep thinking, but you know what it's like .... you just want to gun it!! I have a couple of mates going with me and one is bad enough on the road, hate to think what he is gonna be like on the track. Just hope I can keep my sensible head on and not get too exited!!simmo wrote:make sure you take it steady on your first session, and get to know the track.
I think the first few laps you have to follow an instructor to get used to the track. Hoping this will get the tyres warm enough.
Is it worth changing the suspension at all or just leave it as I have it. Thinking that at my experience level, probably wouldn't make much difference anyway?

They sometimes have suspension dudes at trackdays, you could maybee have a chat to them at lunchtime once your relaxed and into it.
Dont be racing your mates for the first session or two!
Do a nut 'n bolt check and check tyres pressures throughout the day.
Id love a go at brands, looks a great track

Go steady on that first corner, low sides are easy.
