It's a bit like saying heres a SP gearbox for sale it's just like a SP gearbox except that it's not close ratio
I don't like the way it's worded it's no more a SP cam shaft than a regular L model one is so why mention SP................to try and impress ? some poor unsuspecting naive person ?

nice one.
would be good to compare the profile of these zx4 cams compaired to the sp ones.
There might be something in them maybee? could always get a slotted wheel on them..

Re: another chancer on ebay................ avoid
I always had the impression that the ZX-4 formula 3 bike had the same "grind" cam's as the SP's and set for best performance hence no slots..... Just checked and the '88 G1, G1A and G1B all had the same cam's in them.
I also think that's why zimm bought them
Good price anyway's for a spare set

Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !

Re: another chancer on ebay................ avoid
Hi,
Does that mean I got these SP cams in my engine? I got a 1988 G engine in my L2 with roughly 12000 miles on it. It's running a standard airbox with micron system and 90% of the snorkel cut off due to it running stuuuuupidly rich. Now running at 66bhp at the rear.
Regards
Rich

Are ZX-4 cams SP cams = NO
Are ZX-4 cams the same as SP cams = NO
Are ZX-4 cams similar to SP cams = YES
The EBay listing is badly worded , they kinda knew what they were trying to say but didn't fully explain it.
The duration and lift on the cam's are the same as found on ADJUSTABLE SP cam's which makes them similar too but NOT the same, as they have fixed cam chain sprockets so you are not able to "dial" them in for diferent tuning states / set-up's.
In order of performance:
H
L
ZX
SP
F3/BEET
I don't know what Kent cam's "grind" are but thought I had read on this site that they are also based on SP spec'

Re: another chancer on ebay................ avoid
nice info there Mori
precisely why i bought them ..
the two ZX-4's I've had have had stonking topends compared to my zxr's,.. a topend indistinguishable from that achieved by fitting SP cams and not dialling them in
that, + some research over the years + the fact i know the chap selling them.. meant they were well worth a punt for under £30
PS: Oh yeah, i believe the kent re-grind is an approximation of the F3 profile based on a stock L cam.. which means you need massive shims.. which have to be custom ground, which is a pain in the butt. Could be wrong though.. never actually played with any.

Yes mate, if the engine's stock internally, you have the same cams.. hence the screaming topend, and the weak bottom end....
