another f*ckin problem!!!
my bikes doin my head in lol, everytime i fix somethin another problem arises, anyway after fitting my new reg/rectifier i took the bike out, started fine after 3 weeks of not being started,as soon as the enghine warmed up it was spluttery up to around 6k, after 6k was fine, however when i turned the bike off and tried to restart it would only run if the held the throttle flat out, and was only ticking over!!!! had a look at my inline fuel filter and could see there was no fuel pumping through, checked pipes wernt blocked, fuel tap etc all were fine, when the engine cooled down it started fine, was a bit boggy though when accelerating, and if i sit at traffic lights i have to keep it reving at 3k or itll cut out,any ideas please?

Re: another f*ckin problem!!!
carb icing maybe comes to mind, could be some more crap in the fuel but with the filter that should stop it. Are you still using the tank that was on there that i cleaned out? Might have some more water build up.

Re: another f*ckin problem!!!
hello mate, personally i think maybe its the pump or relay for the pump, as i took the pipe off at the tank, and when turning the engine over it wasnt pumping, its just weird how it does it when its hot, can the pumps or relays overheat and cut out?

Re: another f*ckin problem!!!
The fuel pump can cause an intermittent problem.
Check the fuel pump contacts.
It'll probably be a Mitsubishi electro-mechanical fuel pump unit (3 diamond symbol on the back of the black cover).
undo the black screw that holds the black plastic cover, allow the wires to move in whilst gently pulling partially off; do NOT pull hard or you may damage the wire connections.
At the back end you will see a pair of contacts; check the condition of these, they may be pitted or partially burnt away.
If there is still a decent amount of metal pad on each side it is possible to dress up and square up the faces to each other using a flat nail file. But check condition after approx every 500 miles.
If the contacts are shot like the ones in the picture then a new pump is needed or pick one up at a breakers but check the contacts before you buy. Or get one (2nd hand - £25) from AMS Motor Sport (ZXR400 Specialists).

HI, stripped the pump, cleaned the contacts and put 12v to it, its buzzing but the plunger thing in the middle wont go up n down, it does work when i move it up and down by hand so i guess the pumps buggered? are all the pumps the same or do i need to get a pump for a h2?

valve timing is quick and easy(ish). gotaa remove lower rhs cam chain cover and rocker cover and check the manual to make sure all markings line up etc etc. its simple enough if u follow the manual.

only a little bit tho, you wont need to drain the oil to look at it.

Re: another f*ckin problem!!!
redexrob is right. only a small dribble will come out. its not the main cover with the viewing glass on it.
