Best Spark Plugs?
Hi all, bloody cold out there innit, got to work yesterday on me viffer 750 after 20 miles on slippy roads, parked bike, took two steps and slipped twisting ankle badly!!! Who said bikes are dangerous?? Ridings fine, its walking ive got problems with.
Sorry for the ramble, anyway..
What plugs do you zxr veterans recommend? The ones I have in are odd looking, two tangs that dont go over the electrode but sit by the side of it if you can picture it. Are these 'irridium' plugs?
The reason I ask is that my carefully restored and otherwise perfect garage ornament starts running v. lumpy at idle when hot. I've had wiring issues, replaced the loom, HT leads, Coils, had rectifier go on fire, replaced rectifier, had battery issues, replaced battery, replaced carbs, etc etc etc every time I've done sommat its got better running so now its all there except a little tweaking to the idle mixture and this hot idle problem, I must be due a break and good plugs'll sort it.
Any advice on what plugs to go for?
Cheers,

the plugs u talk of r cr9ek's the irridium ones r cr9iex i think, which only has one tang i have irridiums in mine as it was what ngk recommended but then they r more expensive so maybe thats why..
but i have read posts on site that say not to use irridiums...

There are only three kinds of people; people who can count and people who can't.

The standard plugs have 2 side electrodes. Good condition plugs are a must.

ngk cr9ek it is then. From the diagram I reckon these are the ones I have in at the mo but they are mighty old so may well be shot.

+1 used them many many times when I either couldn't get or couldn't afford cr9e-k's... work fine, cant "tell" the difference.
iridium stuff is only worth getting if its cheaper than cr9e-k's (does happen .. occasionally)
splitfire are best avoided.

Sparkers in, main problem gone, i.e. not misfiring at all. Now cuts out when warm due to having zx4 cams, hybrid carbs and a complete loss of interest. This bike is honestly the biggest ball-ache I have ever taken on.

Does this have any effect what so ever on the performance of the bike?RedexRobB wrote:CR9E's work, they are only one elctrode but are ony a few quid each.

Ok then, but surley there must be some reason to use the std over the cr9e?
