Re: Main And Big End Bearings?
It would be quite possible to have a crank repaired and reground to orginal spec. However I suspect that cost may make it unfeasable.
(My brother used to grind crank journals on supertanker engines )
Off the top of my head a new crank is about £250 ?
A good secondhand one is a lot less ( I have a spare one with 12K on it...............and it is perfect)
Bearing shells I very much suspect can only be sourced from a Kawasaki dealer. Obviously anything is possible but cost once again would make it a foolish move to get bearing shells especially made. They come in 3 different sizes depending on the codes on the crank, conrods and crankcases. I've always bought my bearing shells from Cradley and they have always been in stock.
For bearing sizes and code see the manual.................and watch out for the one off number 5 main bearing.
Is you crank so badly worn that it needs to be reground ? You need to measure the journals and perhaps the oil clearance to be certain.
Finally IF you do get it reground then for certain sure you really do need to check the oil clearances on any journal that has been reground

i have 2 cranks, never measured, no visible worn on... but some time ... you have to polish the crank and move on 1 number bigger shells, thats in the cars and i think its the same on the bikes ... but i asked a friend and he said that only new crank, and its not possible to buy shells 2nd or 3rd regrind
in the cars there are sizes as you may know ... 0.25, 0.5 bigger than standard ... i am asking is the same for bikes, and how much will cost that shell
