out on a spin sat there @ 70mph in 6th aroudn about 6.5k rpm ease of throttle down a gear down again so in 4th go to open it out (now sat at 5k rpm) blurble blurble blurble sounding like its got a miss fire , hold on the throtle and wheyyy it pulls away, slowing down for a roundabout , starts to blurble and sounds liek a missfire clutch in off throttle and it stalls !! quicly turn her over nothing alittle throttl wham alive , pull away still blurbling. :S:S pull over stalls. turn ignition off look around bike sit there fire it back up and its running fine :S,


then the next problem!

rolling to s a stop clutch in coming up to hill leading to my house and chachahcahca coming from under the tank sounds like when you do a steam train impresion of chattering, :S:S


any ideas , chain is adjusted right all lubed, running on 97 octane fuel, Carbs have been ultrasonic cleaned and balanced (with a micron before i put the renageade on) oil level is halfway up spy glass,

tried changing the ht leads? or try giving the ignition circuit a spray with wd40

Get the plugs out and check them, if yo have a missfire one of them will be black and sooty. You may just need a new set of plugs. Although i have heard those Iridium ones can cause you problems.

The chacahcahcha noise, was this just as you were changing gear? If so that an indication that its not going into gear properly, which usaully stems from not having your gear lever adjusted properly and your not engaging it all the way. sounds more like a clackclakclakclclonk! noise to others.

Hi,

I had this the other morning coming home from work. Anything under 4000rpm and the bike would die. I had to hold the throttle open above 4000 to get her home. When I pulled up to the garage she died. Hit the starter she fired up and sounded very rough, so I put the choke on and left her to idle for a bit. The revs then went mentally high so I killed the choke and she was quite happy sitting at ~1350rpm. The bike is still running sweet (so far so good) I think it might of been carb icing or even water bloking the jets. Try leaving the bike to warm up before you pull off, it might give the carbs a chance to warm up from the heat of the engine.

what number is written on the side of them plugs?

Standard is CR9EK and i believe the iridiums are CR9EK-IEX (or something like that), both of which should be the twin electrode type, not single.

they look pretty ok to me, although 2nd in from the left looks to be running slightly differently to the rest.

Have you ridden the bike since? I think millameter may have it spot on there with carb icing, feels like its being starved when that happens. Carb heaters should sort that although if it happens again just stop for 5 mins. That lets the heat get to the carbs and warms them up. that noise may stem from carb icing too especially if its not firing right when they have iced up.

If you have the connections of the engine and the LHS rad hose I have the carb icing flexi and the connectors which run at the base of each which I have just taken off my race carbs. I also have the LHS rad hose with the integral connection for the small bore water line to the carbs

To make this work you will need

1) Water line connection off the main engine block (will get a pic) - if you have this it must be blanked otherwise coolant would be pissing everywhere

2) Connections on the carbs for water to and from and intercarb connections at the base of each carb to all the heated water to flow from carb to carb.

Complicated - better if I take a could of pics (although I remeber that this was discussed some time ago on the site) - do a search for "Carb heating" - I seem to recall RedexRob had some photos of this
