even if its the bog standard one its got 110 odd bhp and close on 100 nm of torque, thats not going to be slow by any means.

Not to mention they handel very well. Theres no chance the 400 will get close to it even if the rider isnt the best.

I was going to type a lot, but then I realised I couldn't be bothered.

Just imagine something witty up there, so I don't have to after this much wine.

LOL why does it always boil down to the race prep 400 v the fary on a 916 lol. to be fair if you own a 916 you cant be that much of a bad rider plus its way more powerful.

they are two different bikes at the end of the day 2 good bikes for there classes but it would be like putting ricky hatton in the ring with Ali you wouldnt say either are toad but you would know who was goin to win.

in a nutshell mate be the bigger man and PULL OUT jokin aside.

Yes, but there's a flip-side to that, isn't there?

Most 400 owners can't afford to do a trackday, whilst people with the money to shell out on a 916 will probably have done loads. Especially because they're more likely to be their toy than an everyday bike.

Plus, the odd Born Again biker aside, a lot of 916 riders have been riding a hell of a long time and that's their ultimate bike that they've always wanted.

I dont ride 400's because I cant afford something else.....I just like the challenge......As for someone being a good rider becasue they buy a 916.......I think you ought to spend a few days at a track. I used to use ride days for track time when I could not book into a practice sension, and it was a laugh to see some people ride....dont get me wrong there are some quick people on alll types of bikes and the same rider on both bikes would be far quicker on the 916. Its jsut that from my expeirience people only buy top of the line bikes to make up for the void between both thier legs and heads...LOL. You dont need more than a 600 to be quick on the road unless You live in the USA.....You just need skill and a complete disregard for your own safety....LOL

i think the point ppl are trying to make, is the 916 will go down in history as probably being one of if not THE best superbike the world has ever seen.

that statement goes as far as the 916 road bike.

so if u have a rider who can ride well, then there aint much out there thats gonna leave it

sure..I agree....but modern 1000's are freakishly quick and yet most people only buy them to make up for lack of ability and bragging. Other wise they would just get a 600. Most riders are quicker on a 600 than on a 1000. Simply because the 1000 makes you to hesitant on the throttle.....It takes a good rider to make a slow bike fast. but a toad rider can easily make a fast bike slow.

of course, but with a good rider then you dont stand a chance, you cant just generalise everyone with a nicer bike as a crap rider.

its true but the ppl you are talking about will more likely buy a new blade, GSXR, R1 NOT a 916. to some ppl a 916 is there dream bike so more often than not you might pass 1 at the lights and think ah i done him easy but after afew years you just dont need to prove anything. half the riders i pass on an outing are more than likely way better than me due to years more experience, you sort of chilax as you get older, iv noticed it especially with me in the car these days. ill just let the old nova go by cos iv nothing to prove. plus i like my shiney licence in tact. however iv only been biking for 2 years so i still tend to do the mad headed stuff (althoe i do wonder if i will grow out of it lol)
bottom line 916 v 400 = no brainer. anyone with something to prove aint gona get 1.

its true i can quite happy todel along at 30 mph and not care but once i get on a bit of road i like it all becomes a bit faster. I used to chase down anything now i only bother with somthing a bit faster.
