Vs 916
Hi guys. erm literally just had a near punch up but more of testosterone match or however you spell it. some prick has said to a friend of mine that he is going to run me off my ZXR if he sees me again.... reasons unknown... but being a little drunk called him a prick and said hes all mouth... im 5.7/8 ish he's about 6.2 or so lol but mate and girls were amazed that i stood upto this lankey prick. either way apparantly a ZXR 400 is toad in corners?? aswell apparantly he has a Ducati 916....... which i have never ever seen or heard of him having. thing is. im purchasing a 2000 ZX6R. just wandering as i stupidly betted £100 that i would kick his fucking ass... my words lol... shook hands and made a race... i found the place but lacking the bike. i know for a FACT no matter how good a rider i MAY be. my ZXR would probably lose.. however. A ZX6R would beat a 916 in the straights, as they arent that quick but i know from people the guys a pussy... would it be best to use the ZXR or the ZX6R? it was literally like a boxing match lol... except without the punching even though it was CLOSE. my mate stepped in. i know its stupid mentioning this lol.. but what are the odds of me winning? i have never seen him on a bike so im gathering he's all show and no go...

Re: Vs 916
On the road, riding ability has even more to do with the outcome than on a track. I personally would use the zxr400 as the humiliation factor is better...lol.
depends on the road section your on and how well you can ride. Even better if it were a really twisty section I would race him on a zxr250...LOL....now that would humiliate him......Anyway hope you can ride as good as you can drink or your future may be short...LOL.

Re: Vs 916
Yeah zxr400 for the humiliation factor. Thing is if he says he is gonna run you off, is it a good idea? Thats if he can catch you i guess. If it were me id be riding this little race track you got planned again and again, make sure you know it like the back of your hand, where the bumps are, best lines through the corners, that knowledge will be a life saver (quite literally).
Be bloody careful, the guy may be a pussy but he could also be fucking stupid and cause an accident, so be careful out there. Winning wont be all important (although it helps), just to keep up could say enough about how good the 400 is.
Good luck, and i hope it all ends well.

Re: Vs 916
In the corners you'l be fine i would imagine, I had a little race with a 916 a few weeks back, though not so testosteron infused!! lol. On the corners I was catching him very quickly with my knee on or very close to the ground ( they were wide open roads and i could see far into the distance, I'm not a nutter lol). However on the straights there was no contest and he skipped off into the distance without much effort. So unless the course is mostly bends I would say there is little chance, unless he is totally shite!!
Will a zx6r really keep up with a 916 in the straights??

Re: Vs 916
LOL I doubt very much a ZX6R would keep up with a 916 on the straights, apart from at the very top end!
There's a reason they're still around on racetracks and that's that they are -ing quick bikes... and sorry to disappoint you but as far as handling goes that's where Ducati made their name for being some of the best bikes out there...
I beat one on a VFR750 because the rider was crap. And that was still tight with 40 more hp than you've got...
Basically, if he can lose on that to a 400 or a 600 then he's a bit *makes spakka faces*

Re: Vs 916
I'll never forget watching someone a couple of years ago on a 916 at Donnington in the Sounds of Thunder championship drifting it into Redgate every lap!
Awesome to watch one at full chat with a great rider. I think he pulled out almost a lap over the second place rider in a 6 lap race...

Not looking good
If his bike is like the 80% of Ducatis out there, sitting on 1 service since new, mileage hovering around 7000 "cos service is every 6k, nevermind-the-fucking-"annual"-part", you'll be ok because it will blow up. (I think Ducati owners think a year is a decade)
But if it works, you're probably fecked... unless he's a crap rider. And he'd have to be really crap.
I've ridden an RSV and decided that twins are perfect for the road - power is smooth and constant. It's just pull, pull, pull, pull, pull, change gear, pull, pull, pull, pull...
He will beat you off the line in 4th gear!
And on the corners, you'll be slapping over bumps nm high, and he'll be digging up the road with his traction.
If your ZX6r is a 636 I would say you could be close on a short drag - my friends RSV and Gixxer 6 K2 were very close up to a point. CC really comes into play when aerodynamics have failed. So the faster you go, the more your bike struggles, whereas he can just plough through the wall of air with his 2 Taglioni fists!
As they say: No relplacement for displacement

They may be getting old now, but I'm pretty sure it's even better than a ZXR400 in the twisties. You'll find more elbow-down pics of a 916 than a ZXR400!

Re: Vs 916
Are you absolutely mad?
I can think of dozens of reasons why a) the 916 will win and b) why this idea of a race is a completely idiotic idea.
walk away now and blame it on drunken talk. As Rene/Jamz and a couple of others have said - the 916 is a pretty handy bike.

Re: Vs 916
either dont turn up or arrive on a brand new fireblade that should do that trick.
failing that, turn the race into the old sega megadrive game "ROAD RASH" hide a chain in your coat an take him out as he comes past.
