
Rattling Camchain

Rattling Camchain
Hi guys i have recently this week started with a bad rattle from the cam chain i believe anyways! er i cant take it to the mechanic as i havent been paid yet
however. what i'd like to know is weather i can continue riding it even with the annoying rattle? or will it screw the bike? cheers adam

I think potentially the cam chain could jump off a sprocket if the tensioner/blade has broken. I personally wouldnt ride it, only to get it to the mechanic.

hmmm i forgot to mention that it stops rattling when riding lol. any better? cheers

So, it rattles on tick over and then dissapears when you ride it?
Sounds like the cam chain to me, probably just needs a new tensioner blade

Any camchain rattle I've heard appears at a very particlular revs above and below those revs there is nothing to hear.
It does not disappear on riding the bike in fact if anything it's more noticeable..................................
A rattle that is there at tick over and disappears once you ride the bike sounds like it could be good old fashioned and harmless clutch rattle ?
Have a look inside the ignition pick up cover..................is the camchain tensioner fully extended?

it is rattling at 3krpm anything above that and it stops. hope this helps?
