Front Master Cylinder

Post by MillaMeter »

Hi,

Some you may know that I've recently fitted 6 pot Tokicos to me ZXR, and my what a difference in looks! I'm stil using the ZXR400 front master cylinder and it does feel a bit skunk and slow on reponse. What I wanna know is, what other kwak master cylinders would be better for the job? Will the ZX9R M/C fit for example?

Regards

RIchard

well i've got a zx7r which runs the same tokico 6pots,

and the standard mc was shite,

upgrade to a brembo 19x20 mc mate, and never look back

the ZX7R front calipers arent the same as that used on the K1/K2 gixxer gem. But i suspect that the master cyclinder from the 7R will do the job better than the standard zxr400 jobbie.

Hi,

That's exactly what mine's doing at the moment, you can pull the lever in and it touches the bar! No matter how much you bleed the brakes I garentee that the brakes will be spongey. I was thinking of getting the ZX9R MC but I wasn't too sure if it fits. Anyone else fitted the ZX9R MC? Also what is the ZX7R MC like?

listen to Gem!! i have stripped his calipers a couple of time now and polished the pistons, its the m/c thats at fault and now with brembo master cylinder its money well worth spent, if you dont wanna spend the cash then ditch em for gixer 4 pots!

everyone has a budget rob, why change the calipers and not the m/c? personally i'd stick the 6 pots on ebay and buy a bigger master cylinder for your original 4 pots.

the ZXR750/ZX7R dos an awsome job of moving the gixxer1000 6 pots, the 6 pots that everyone else are on about are different and will NEVER be good due to poor desighn, the biger MC only covers up how crap they are.

I've got the same calipers on my 750 and they have the most feel out of almost any brakes i've riden with (using the standard mc)

as baz said, if you dont get a big brembo mc, then them 6pots will never work

put the 6pots back on ebay and look for better 4pots

i hear the yamaha blue spots are pretty good

right,

i know what feckin 6pots he's using cuz if you read the first part of the thread robB informs me of it, so dont tell me im talking shite

now if the zx7r 6pots are so toad and have a design flaw, how is it that mine work feckin superbly now?

you say the brembo mc only covers up the problem :smt017

this may be true, but this "cover up" eliminates lever travel and removes the sponginess

so that to me = fixed

what more do you want from a brake system
