did you show the copper any ID at all? cuz im just thinking, in this scenario, what would stop someone else who gets stopped giving someone elses name and address? just to lose the trail
you can turn round when the letter hits the doorstep and say, err no i werent driving, and get a mate to give you an alibi saying you were with them

And if he gets caught perverting the course of justice he will be waiting even longer to get in the forces.
I think its best to take it on the chin mate rather than try getting away with it, you did something that you knew was wrong and you got caught. If nothing comes of it then thats a bonus, but i wouldnt be trying to get away with it by lying, i think the consequences for that (if you get caught) are far worse than what your going to get by just putting your hands up and saying 'you got me'.
