well, normally you will be cautioned (warned) if they think you have broken the law, then the monkeys that be will go away and start trying to prove it, then come to arrest you
but last night, he thought you had broken the law so pulled you, had good reason to believe he can do you as you admitted you have no license nor insurance, so an admission would suggest instant arrest....
its a no brainer for a copper, so y not do it last night
again, i could be wrong but its very odd.

Did you provide proof of identity? did he check it?
Otherwise it wasn't you, was it?

I don't know about England but certainly here they wouldn't arrest you for a traffic offence like driving with no insurance...............they'd do you for it and you woud be cautioned as to your rights and told that you would be reported with a view to prosecuting you................and of course they'd not let you drive off.....................
With all the current on the spot fines and points available to the cops nowdays is actually quite hard to get yourself arrested.....................
As a footnote I recently had to complete a security check on my background in order that I could go on a school trip with my sons class..........the report on my concivtion history was comprehensive.....................................all my crimes going back nearly 30 year were there to see
Driving (a bike) with no L plates...............£15 fine
Speeding.....65 in a 30..............3 month ban and £200 fine
And my personal favourite............................
Simple drunk...........................£15 fine..............................The judge said that I was the reason " decent people couldn't bring their families to Portrush "( seaside holiday town).................he said I was a "hooligan".................at the time of my arrest I was sitting on a grass bank and was certainly drunk............but that was it I wasn't shouting or fighting or causing any bother just drunk.................all the folks around me boooed the cops as they carried me away.
Don't worry about it scott..................it's nothing................ very very minor....................there is very much worse going on in the world that driving with no insurance.
Forget about it relax and wait and see what comes

you're a little ray of sunshine aint ya !
its "driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence" as he has one, just not a car category.. i got "done" for the same thing and worse, and got points and a fine as has already been stated previously in the thread.

Somone just asked
"Why didnt you say you were your mate, you had no I.d and the cop would of given you a producer, tell your mate to go in with his license."
Now why didn't I think of that! Hindsight is a giraffe! I wish I'd pleaded my case in the car with him a bit more rather than just stay quiet. Then again it was my first time! Live n Learn I guess!

my opinion is best thing to do is stay quiet, dont argue, plead or anything, nor should you admit to aything.
have a look at a website called pepipoo, it deatils cases like this and you can get legal advice. i really dont think you have anything to worry about

a year or so ago i got pulled for using my phone in the van (big sprinter race home) it was on hands free but cop wasnt interested, i kept quiet, it was on a roundabout and i went back to the scene and took photos, also used googlemap to show his position and how well he could have seen me. suggested we went to court when the paper work came though and sent it with my evidence. i didn't hear anything again.

I've got to tell them on monday after my interview what has happend, they'll probably say I can't go any further until I've sorted things out. I'm definatley going to recieve a fine and possible court appearance. That needs to be sorted first.

gutter mate! toad happens sometimes. but you might get lucky. if not it aint the end of the world, cant see why the marines wouldnt let you in for such a pants offence. have you got a bike licence cos the points will carry over to that an if its more than 6 it will be a ban and a re test if you aint had the licence 2 years i think.
Remember speed kills, so does smoking, drinking, drugs, fast food and many more good things

by rights, the no insurance is 6 points by itself plus whatever they give you for other than in accordance with a licence.
