Drove my mates car 1000 metres the rest of the journey home, got pulled by a cop. No insurance.

Re: Ive just done the stupidest thing in my entire life.
wouldnt worry too much unless he pulled you for "driving without due care" or speeding in the first place ..
i got done for driving my car with no tax/mot/insurance or licence* when i was 17 and got 6 points and a 700 quid fine.
*had a provisional, didnt have l plates, or a qualified driver in the car.
the lc20 and in10 showed on my licence for bloody ages though and i paid through the nose for insurance for years as a result.

Ouch, bud.
Bad luck.
I'd love to flame you for it, but I've done the same myself loads of times.
Mind you, I've only done it down within the village itself, where the only time a Copper comes down is when that odd drunken chap turns up some Christmasses, noone knows where he comes from, only that he goes door to door begging and then getting angry by the time he gets halfway down the village and noone's given him any pennies.
Anyway, I deviate.
The worst I ever did was about two days after I passed my bike test, I allowed myself to be bullied into having a quick blast on one of my mates RSV Thou.
Leeeeeary piece of kit that, btw.
Look at it this way. Nowadays you can't afford fuel anyway, road tax is becoming a joke, and you've got all the time in the world to tinker with that ZX and get her absolutely spectacular.

ive done it myself too, on both bike and car, so not gonna start blaring double standards. But sods law does say the one time your tempted to try something you shouldnt, there will be a copper round the corner to catch you.
Good luck tho scott, hopefully you wont get flamed by the law.

Penalty points and fine for no licence and no insurance?
by Murdo Maguire — last modified 2007-02-05 06:18
I have been booked on the following driving offences and have been called to the court: Driving not according to licence and Using vehicle without insurance. I was driving my friend's car and I have no licence and insurance and I intent to plead guilty of the above offences. What will be the punishment and what details I should carry to the court?
The following offences would apply:
Offence code: IN10 Using a vehicle uninsured against third party risks. 6-8 penalty points
Offence code: LC20 Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence 3-6 penalty points
The fine will be dependent on your income but you can either take your bank information/cheque book with you or apply for time to pay. You may well receive a higher fine than normal as there is no licence to add the points to.

Re: Ive just done the stupidest thing in my entire life.
how does this affect your application to the marines mate? i believe for any convictions you have to apply for a waiver which means you may have to wait 5-10 years to get in?

Re: Ive just done the stupidest thing in my entire life.
its to do with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
worst case and a ban is imposed, the way i read through it suggests a 5yr waiver or 'spent' time will be imposed, which needs to elapse before you can apply for certain jobs. you need to speak to the marines mate and find out what their policy is on driving convictions.
explained quite well on here http://www.lawontheweb.co.uk/rehabact.htm

driving licence peppered with convictions didnt affect my application to the RAF (i failed on delinquency and mental health
) so you may be ok with the marines Scott.

Wow what a cool job..........................funny I didn't know the RAF had ZXR400s
I doubt that any driving conviction will have any bearing an a job application unless of course its for a driving job................
Plead guilty and think of a never thought of before story in mitagation. Most judges have heard it all before
