I didn't use my ZXR at the Manx but a guy I know well blew his up big style......................being a decent sort of a guy I loaned him mine.
First time out on it he did a 105mph lap...............take it from me on a 400 that is damn good and I was delighted to know I had built such a good and fast engine.
Sadly on the third night that he was using it it stopped.................and now I know why............
It looks like the camchain tensioner blade has broken and a bit of it dropped down and damaged the ignition rotor and the pick up there maybe more damge yet to find cos it will now need to be fully stripped................
I've never seen a tensioner blade break like that anyone else ?
Might do a little photo shoot as I take it apart

Re: My first serious engine failure
It just stopped.................as if it had been switched off at the switch................it would still turn over on the starter and there were no strange noises.
The bit of the tensioner blade was jammed between the rotor and the pick and must have had the effect of truning the ignition off..............
It happened at one of the very fastest section of the course...............Crosby......flat out in top
