Hello guys, I bought a zxr400 and just joined the club.
I had problem to starting the bike, so I removed the alarm as I did not have the instruction, but there is something weird.
When the bike is cold, I push the button and nothing happen, then I hold the button and after 5-10 second the starter begin to sound and after a minute the bike is on. No problem whatsoever when the bike is hot.
Another thing is that in 1st gear between 2000-4000 rpm and start, the bike is behaving like a 2 stroke engine, do you understand the thing, after 4000 rpm goes like a lightning.
P.S. the bike was restricted and I removed the restriction myself. Does it need a carburators check?
Any answer to my questions?

Re: starter and starting
Hi, has the bike been standing for a while?
The starter motor problem could be a duff battery or it needs a good charge. Have you tried pulling the clutch lever in while you start it? In the past mine has been a bit funny like that.
The reving between 2k-4k sounds a bit like it should be, not alot of power then it just picks up. As long as the engine is smooth in that rev range its probably nothing to worry about.
As for the restriction, all you should need to do is remove the washers. No carb check is neccessary really. Other than maybe a carb balance if you have the gauges.

Thanks RobB for your answers;
I gave the battery a good charge when I got the bike and at the moment with the "beautiful" weather I can't use it much, but I am looking foward for the day out with the group hopefully the week-end of the 25 of july.
