going to be striping calipers down and fitting new seals in the next few days so all advice above is a great help and i didnt even need to ask a question

does it matter what type of grease you use on the pistons ? got some litium grease, copper slip and nickleeze (or rather fater-in-law does) would any of these be ok or do i need something special ?

You should use rubber grease mate, perfect for the job of metal on rubber. As for the ones you have there im not sure other than the copper grease can contain something that causes the seals to swell.
