roads to wales

Post by kermit the frog »

the road from much wenlock to the craven arms. B4368. tis fantastic used by many bikers from the west mids, the map rearlly doesnt do it justice.

couple of things to whatch for;
there are some blind junctions on hill crests.
Tractors - f***ers
about two thirds of the way dwn that raod is mega sharp left hander, well sign posted, it has a junction on the outside of the bend and a FARM house on the inside so its blind and its at the end of a long straight so make sure you knock of them high speeds down to at least 20-30 cuz u will either end up int the front of a car, side of a tractor or through the hedge(if ur lucky)

enjoy n ride safe.

der is a cafe at the end of the raod aswell. (and garage)

Hi just was looking at this section, I remembered a road in wales i came down in me astra 2.0 i mean machine :smt009 about 3 years ago.

It was south of snowdonia and took us east all the way over what appeared to be a flattende out plateau. went on for miles. I remember thinking.. bike this would be so awesome (and dangerous). Im 90 percent its the A4212 cause there is a garage at the bottom of it just as you turn on from leaving a470 south.

16 miles of awesomeness. for it to stick in my head it must be that too. I just hunted it down on google earth i think a trip is coming, luton to wales on the zxr sounds stressfull for both man and bike tho....

if you do, avoid the motorways, i'm currently doing peterborough to telford on the a14/m6, and boy is it dull! try following the a5, it run from north of london, all the way to anglesey, and will get you to near that road you mean.

as for the muchwenlock to craven arms road, beautiful isn't it? i know what you mean about the sharp corners, but i seem to recal they're all in 30 zones anyway, so not too bad. also, if you go striaght on, theres a nice road to clun, which has a nice castle (ruins) to walk around whilst eating your sarnies.
I do 700 miles a week in all weathers including snow, that's roughly 35,000 miles a year, and some weekend warrior biker has the nerve to get out of his Audi at work to tell me to I was riding far too fast in the wet (over taking at 50... fast eh?).
