coolant leak
hi guys, have a bit of a problem on my zxr.
its loosing coolant, after running/while running, you can see it building up between where the 2 fairings meet under dead centre of the bike. are there any common places where these leak from?
ill whip the fairngs off at the weekend and check all hose clips but ill happily recieve any advice.
cheers
mike

Re: coolant leak
could be throwing it out of the expansion bottle?

Re: coolant leak
i meant the overflow mate, there should be a pipe on it if not it could be blowing out and running down the inside of the fairings, have you checked all pipe fiitings and the coolant drain plug?

Re: coolant leak
How far has the expansion bottle been filled up? If its been filled to far that may be why its coming out. Theres markers on the bottle to indicate where the coolant level should be.

Re: coolant leak
it was at the max when i left it, ill check tomorrow when its cooled down, if it hasnt moved i guess i overfilled it and it spat the excess out.RobB wrote:How far has the expansion bottle been filled up? Re: coolant leak
right, water level was almost at the max so i must have overfilled it and it spat the excess out??
however, i had it idling for a while earlier and the fan showed no signs of coming on, at what position on the temp gaguge would the fan be expected to come on?
cheers

Re: coolant leak
As your sitting on the bike yeah Its kinds obvious where it is if the panels are off, in fact i believe you can easily get to them with the panels on as i recall having to always reconnect mine when they came off.
