My bike is due for its MOT and I'm wondering if I need to start sticking the OEM bits back on.
I have Gilles rearsets fitted, they utilise the OEM brake switch, but there is no where to attach a brake return spring. Now usually I wouldnt even query this, but my friends girlfriends bike failed its MOT for not having a return spring fitted (her bike is some form of cruiser type thing - thats the best description Ive been given!)
Ive searched the net, and there doesnt seem to be any specific requirements for a return spring, just that the brake pedal needs to return on its own.
So, my question is, has anyone taken their bike to MOT with rearsets fitted? should i risk it? or should i stick the OEM ones back on?
I have better things to do with my time than change over bits only to change them back again the next day!
Cheers!
Caz

I think that kinda thing is gonna be down to the discression of the MOT place perhaps? Personally, i would spend half hour putting the OEM ones on and getting it through for definate, otherwise you just spend double the time anyway if it doesnt go through cos you have to do the trip again and re-book it.
Are these Gillies on the ZXR?

Re: MOT - Rearsets
Theyre sold as road rearsets as they utilise the OEM brake switch, so I would have thought if a return spring was needed they would have added the facility to fit one.
My friend has OEM fitted rearsets on his KR and they dont have the facility for a return spring either.
The trip to the test centre isnt a problem - its a 2 minute ride from my place, so Im not bothered by that. I think I may just ask them when I ring up to book it.
Do you reckon Id get it through with mismatched rearsets RHS OEM and LHS Gilles? LOL
Nope, the gilles are on my gixxer. Got a set of Pazzos turning up for it tomorrow

what i always do with MOT's is just take it, anything it fails on you get 10 days to repair and return the bike for a free re test on just the things it fails on!

Re: MOT - Rearsets
That seems to be the general feeling im getting from people that it will go straight through. Think I'll risk it. Have far too much else to do to sit spend time in the garage taking them off just incase!
