Hi ppl, jus a little question to any1 who knows about this. I have a 444 bore and basically im getting lots of starting trouble. Wrong mixture really, flooding, backfiring, runing lean etc. i cant seem to get a consistant setting that works in all temps. This is so fustrating when it dont start on cold mornings, even with choke.
All i ask is if any1 knows, the fuel screw settings on the carb or able to giv any advice to ensure consistant starting. Stock is 1.1/4 turns out but i was told the bore kit needs more ???
p.s plugs were cleaned, there are impressive sparks, and are new anyway, comp seems good, fuel does catch fire. (35 pilot 95 main)
Thanks.

k well idles smooth, balance isn't too bad, so thats 2 turns, makes sense coz iv got best result so far at about 1.3/4 but not perfect wil try 2 2moro thanks.
I take ur carb is similar to mine jetting wise? coz otherwise it'l be slightly different. my mech who done the work said 2.1/2 turns but this proved by plugs n sound that its too rich, n hes dodgey anyway. thanks for your help il get back soon as.

You could try a JN-N76L needle with the clip on the 3rd notch with a MJ of 87 or 90. This set up will cover most if not all exhaust systems along with your rebore
Then do the air/mixture screw as previously described, if your still having problems after this then you really need to consider getting it on a Dyno.
I like the DIY challenge but it can be an ardeous journey, look out for a free Dyno shoot-out day then you can see how your air/fuel mixture is doing through the rev range.
Good Luck !

Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !
