I bought myself a pair of the top of the range Halvarssons gloves (The Dino) a few weeks ago - I'm really pleased with them. And I still cant believe that they only cost me £62; and thats the RRP!

Halvarssons are a swedish company and they are well known over there for making quality bike gear (I only know all this as my other half lived in Sweden for 6 years, and prior to that Finland). Theyve just stared importing into the UK. All I can say is, I am so impressed! The quality is amazing and I personally would say equivalent to an expensive pair of Alpinstars gloves

dead comfy; only weird thing is the sizes tend to me on the small side. So ifyou usually take a size 7 glove, try a size 8

Just reading the 'Ladies Bike Gear' bit on your link. Hasn't someone somewhere started a company up selling decent kit for women RIDERS not pillions?? There must be someone - they'd make a killing if they did it properly & my Arlen Ness jacket is the best fitting kit i've got too - cost a bit though! everything else i got is make do - gloves; fingers too long. Trousers; no slider velcro & not cut for women very well, etc, etc.

I dont want to pay through the nose for ladies bike gear tho either I want to be able to get them from a regular bike shop.

You're right about the Arlen Ness leathers though; I got a ladies 2 piece at the NEC last year for £250 and it fits fantastically, and it has sliders

i really struggle with all kit... being tiny and female and riding a sports bike (oh and add to that a poor student) i cant find kit for love nor money!!

i dont have £250 to spend on kit, especially when the chances are its going to leak anyway!!

i intend on saving some pennies this year and go to the NEC next year with the intention of getting at least moderately better kit than the crap i have now!!

damn it girls are never going to get into riding if they have to pay double what men do just for decent protective kit!! :smt013

I know of one place and thats "Girls Bike 2" they do really good female kit. I think their main branch is in Hitchen
but they have opened quite a few more branches now.Hope this is of some help to you .

I recently went on the scrump for some new gloves, finding the right ones in the right size at the right price was a nightmare.

Oddly enough in the end, I got what I was after from eBay.

I paid by CC, the retailer is a motorcycle dealership so its all backed up by the Sales of Goods Act.

My gloves arrived today and I am very pleased - the current Plus gloves from Alpinestars have plastic knuckles and retail at nearly a ton.

Decent gloves are hard to find!

I loved the pair of Lookwell gloves I had first, and they survived hitting the deck at 80mph twice!

Those Swedish ones look amazing for the price, and I hope i remember them when I'm after my next pair.

My current pair are from Bellstaff, and they seem really good quality. No idea how much they are new - I got them off Ebay for about 30 squid!

Worst pair were from RST - I wore a hole in the fingers just from using the clutch... in 6 months!!! :smt013

never buy Frank Thomas gloves i'll have to get a pic but after about1 year of use mine have completly worn though (holes in the parms and all sorts :S) cant rember the price but im sure it was around £100 for that sort of money id expect them to last a life time not just a year years!

i got holes in the fingers within the first month or so. Stitching came undone within the first few months ect just genraly very poorly made gloves

i've now been though 4 pairs of gloves and i can honestly say the best i've owned so far at the £20 ones i brought when i had a moped, there the only ones that have lasted (useing them again now!)

might give the alpinestar ones ago next, herd good and bad things but as i dont ride all year round anymore should hoppfully have abit of a easyer life!

My other half had a pair of halvarssons gloves for over 5 years and many thousands of miles - eventually wore through them. Tried several other brands, all of which were not as comfy....... Very happy when we found a UK halvarssons importer. Try them - you wont be disappointed

on another note, my other half also has halvarssons leathers - 8 years old and in the region of 100,000 miles and theyre still in good condition - just sent them off Scrubbers to get them cleaned.

Halvarssons stuff is quality!

I know this thread is that old it has mould growing on it but I just wanted to give a +1 to the comments about Halvarssons Dino gloves. After reading a few reviews of these I tracked down my nearest stockist to Five Way Motorcycles in Hull (where I got excellent service, and they do mail order free postage on these) and bought a pair. They've gone up a bit since this thread started and they're now £92 but worth every penny. These are without doubt the best racing gloves I have ever seen, never mind owned. Absolutely beautiful quality.

According to the guy at Five Ways they get very few returns on Halvarssons but get a fair bit on AlpineStars. Draw your own conclusions.

If you buy a pair of these and aren't happy I'll eat my own pair

i'll second that on alpine stars - nice kit, but the quality control is rubbish. the toe sliders keep falling of my track boots, so now i leave them at home most of the time. the zips and tags keep braking on my jet road textile suit too.

but Arlen Ness, not that quality, my track suit (not to be confused with a tracksuit that chavs wear!) is beautiful quality.

I tend to use a pair of lindstrands motox gloves on track - single layer sprandex, with suede on fingers and palm areas, with a big lump of hard knuckle armour. they look the part until you put them on and realise it's like a second skin, the feel is amazing, and at least you've got a good bit of knuckle armour.

Yes, Lindstrands are part of the same group as Halvarssons, they're all in the same catalogue and stocked by the same dealers. So I'd agree that on my experience with Halvarssons, Lindstrands will be on the money too.
