tempramental to start
1997 zxr 400 L used to start on the button, rode it on the motorway for about 45 minutes then fueled up and wouldnt start, opened the tank and it started on the button and was fine. Slowly it has started to get worse and only starts with the tank open and even sometimes wont even start then :/ when its just been ridden its usually fine within about ten minutes then it wont start again so ive got to f*** about opening and closing the tank :/ (Have took the tank cap apart and cleaned it thouroughly)

Re: tempramental to start
Tank breather pipe is blocked causing a vacuum to happen inside the tank.
Take the cap off, and the rubber seal and check it out.
Best bet is to blow air through the pipe from the bottom up.

you can also use long pipe cleaners to clear any blockages from the vent hole.

Re: tempramental to start
maybe...
the breather pipe that runs alone the inside of the tank has a hole in it and is blocked...
drain the tank, pull it off and have a good look in there.

Run a bit of petrol down the hole and see if it drips out the bottom.

Re: tempramental to start
I had a look at the breather pipe on the tank and its a little rusty so I carefully poked through the hole but it was still bad so im just gonna have to take the tank off and give it a really good clean and hopefully itll sort it.
