Post by Vaughn »

Just come across this sea foam additive stuff and everyone is raving about it, just wondering if any of you guys use it.

You add it to the oil, fuel and pour the rest down a breather pipe or something and it cleans the whole engine out,

Some amazon reviews

And a copy and paste
Safely helps quiet noisy lifters, helps remove fuel deposits and oil residue, helps smooth rough idle. For Carburetors or Fuel Injected Gasoline Engines – Autos – Trucks – Tractors – Motorcycles – Marine – Small Engines – Industrial Engines Great for Diesel Engines Too!

SEA FOAM Motor Treatment is a petroleum based product that helps clean internal fuel and oil system components. SEA FOAM is an EPA-registered product, and will not harm engine components, seals, gaskets, catalytic converters or oxygen sensors.

SEA FOAM helps liquefy gum and varnish deposits when added to fuels or oils. Mechanics have used Sea Foam for many things over the years including cleaning fuel injectors when using their professional injector cleaning machines also used to clean air induction systems and Throttle Bodies. When Using Sea Foam Motor Treatment to clean Air induction systems and Throttle Bodies the use of an “S” tool attachment is necessary to soak down the Throttle Body. If you do not have an “S” Tool at your disposal Sea Foam Spray should be used. Next a nylon brush is used to clean throttle plates and throttle body housing. This is only a few examples why Sea Foam has been so popular with professional mechanics for over 70 years.

As a fuel system additive, Sea Foam helps, clean carburetor jets, clean passageways, clean fuel injectors, clean deposits, stabilize fuel for up to 2 years, control moisture and adds lubricity to fuel.

As an oil system additive, Sea Foam helps prevent and clean oil residue deposits

Anyone tried it??

Sounds like redex to me, apart from using in the oil, remember can be used diluted or poured straight down the throttle body which cleans the valves, when I did my head gasket I put all the pistons half way and poured this on top to remove all the carbon, works a treat

Yeah but from what I've read it's a lot better than redex.
I sat and read a big list of reviews and nobody had a bad thing to say about the stuff, most people were amazed at how much different it makes.
The only people that had bad things to say were the people that didn't read the label before putting a whole bottle into there bike tank but that's their fault, everyone who used it properly gave it 5 star ratings

There were even people who had tried all sorts of engine treatments with no luck and used a can of this and noticed instant results.

The best one was a story I read about a bloke who's car engine was knackered and he was pretty much ready to scrap it, the person who wrote the review told him to use sea foam but he didn't.
For years he drove this car like this and was just about to sell it to the reviewer and tried sea foam as a last resort and it fixed all the problems.
He then refused to sell the car and kept it lol

Probably wouldn't notice a lot of difference with a freshly sonicated carb and already cleaned fuel system but it should get rid of some carbon from in the engine so it's got to be worth a shot especially on my 1989 lump if it ever runs again

Redex is the fuel additive that cleans the areas that the fuel reaches.

SeaFoam is the oil additive that cleans the areas that the oil reaches.

Use both for 200 extra hp :pmsl

Drop OilMan a message, or post in the oil section.
Opie Oils / Oilman will give you sound advice.
