Hi guys,
Just after some friendly advice -
Riding home today and thought about going for a blast until I looked down and realised I had no speedo... "/
Checked when I got home and found the end of the speedo cable near the speedo drive has broken - So am going to order me a new cable... Is it simply unscrew the old cable from the speedo and speedo drive and screw new one on?? Or is there a specific order it needs doing??
Any help greatly appreciated (:
Thanks

Re: Speedo Cable Replacement
I assume that the inner cable is the problem, since you say that it is broken. That has happened for a reason, so you might want to check the speedo drive on the wheel, to ensure that it is working properly. Note that it should locate on a lug at the bottom of the fork leg, to ensure that it doesn't try to rotate with the wheel. The internal gears may need some grease - it is in an exposed position, and may have suffered from a number of years of rain. Unscrew the outer sheath from the speedo to remove the other part of the broken cable, and then insert the new one, liberally smeared with grease to permit free rotation. Attach the lower section of the sheath first, ensuring that the slot engages the drive, and then fit the upper part to the speedo. You may need to creep the bike forward to ensure the square drive engages.

Re: Speedo Cable Replacement
if your speedo has snapped its a good idea to get the speedo off and lube the gear there, i snapped 3 cables before i worked it out

Re: Speedo Cable Replacement
Thanks for your replies.
Speedo drive was replaced 2 years ago and I've hardly ridden the bike in that time so I'm presuming that it's okay. Will have a proper look at it tomorrow when I come to sort the cable out.
Thanks

That's what I thought on the rs125, it only takes 10 minutes to do both
