Hey all, I know this has been asked before, I did a search and everything - but the usual phone Cradley avenue has been explored and they were less than helpful..
I need a spare set of throttle cables for my H1 - the one's I have are currently good, but it's going on a very long trip soon and I need a backup plan badly.
I've already tried one custom cable place, cabletec - no dice, they can't make the specific parts - I have an email into venhill but at this point I'm panicking.
I've also bought a set of ZXR 750 cables from eBay as suggested somewhere else on here and again, no dice. What do people do for new cables for their H1's?

Re: H1 Throttle Cables
is it the cable thats fecked, or the housing?
if the housing is damaged, you might by in problems, but you can make your own cable interiors easy using bicycle cables and screwable-nipples for the other end, cut the cable and a bit of solder and its finished.

Nothing is broken, but I'm taking it on a 10,000 mile trip in mid July, so a spare set seems prudent - it's why I can't really dismantle the current set.

Re: H1 Throttle Cables
so basically you cut one nipple off your current cable and pull it through, measure the length (plus a bit extra) and order some new cable £3 for 2m:-
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=27247
put a mark on the new cable so that the two are the same length (you might wanna remove a few mm if you think the cable has stretched over time), then you clean the inside of your old cable housing if possible/if dirty and then thread the new cable through the housing.
you cut the end that looks odd (i.e. doesnt look like a standard motorbike nipple), then you buy one of these:-
http://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/1713/ ... ttle-cable
and screw it at the correct distance (where you put the mark before), cut the cable and secure it even more with 50/50 lead/tin solder.
lube it up and you are good to go!
the reason you cant find the cable for the H1, is no-one makes them any more, for the H1 or the H2...

zxr 750 ones do fit. Ive got them on my H1, the top cable goes on absolutely fine but the bottom cable requires a bit of modification too fit properly. Dosent take long to do though

Re: H1 Throttle Cables
Cheers for the responses - I know no-one makes them anymore, just can't believe it. I wonder if anyone has a 3D printer to hand...
I'll take a second look at the 750 cables - I clipped the plastic housing to match already - it just didn't seem to want to fit.
I like the sound of the cable components - if I lose a cable I can rebuild it from parts on the side of the road - wouldn't matter which cable snapped either.

I was just looking on wemoto when I found something that should be right up your street.
It's a cable emergency repair kit and it's only a tenner
Have a look
