....and cue profanity....

Post by beermaker »

riding to work this morning, wagon in front slows to a crawl for a flooded bit of road, I slow to a crawl for a flooded bit of road, car behind me doesn't slow for a flooded bit of road.... or indeed for the near stationary bike in front. hits the back of my bike at about 20, punts the bike from under me and spills me on the road in the bloody water! Back of my suzuki is buggered and I hurt! Not impressed in the slightest!

Oh, and let us not forget I manage to get up and walk to the ambulance, but the car driver (I $hit you not!!) is stretchered into the ambulance on a spine board with a neck brace!! Can you believe it!!! :pmsl

You're ok though?

No getting away with it, its his fault. I would be getting down to A&E so you can tell the insurance you had to go to hospital too.

More and more of this recently, its depressing.

police who attended already said it was his fault. Just going through the insurance palaver now, but had enough for this evening - time for some beers!

Had assessors round today, been written off. Back wheel buckled, headlight and tail lights smashed, mirrors smashed, bars bent, tank dented, exhaust bent and split, rear damping reservoir knacked. Should be getting a price tonight for it.

Prepare yourself for a pitiful offer. Hope you are ok? I couldn't sleep after a recent accident.

My 1995 CBR was written off last year, they offered me 500 quid.
Went to ebay, found several completed listings of the same bike that were faaaaar in better condition than mine and managed to get the full "bike valued at" price that i had declared.

What did you say the value of your bike was when you got the policy?

Quite pleased really - had bike valued at £500 on policy, paid £600 for it seven years ago and they're giving me £400 for it! On top of that i'm buying it back as a cat c write off for twenty five quid! Will get my step daughters to help me strip it down for parts and then hit the autojumble :)

shocking
Why did you value it so low?
I have mine valued at 1500, I paid 900 for it last year and i know it is increasing in value.

But unless you have an agreed value policy it makes no difference what you value it at (which is why I can never understand why they ask) as they will only give you the current resale value of a similar bike. That's why agreed value policies are so important if you have a bike which is worth more than the average bike for that year / condition.

Its not my zxr that's been binned, that buggers nearly ready to roar again!! It's my Suzuki GS500 bike I was using for commuting that was totalled. It was quite old, lived outside and they're ten a penny on the bay. Was really expecting less for it!

still like my GS though :o) tempted to fix it up as it's only a Cat C write off and I have a ton of spares for it but will prob just scrap it and sell the bits on the 'bay and at Rufforth and Scorton :o) Might keep the engine and make a go kart though.....

I would keep the GS as a winter hack, just do basic stuff to keep it running and f*** everything else.
I garage the zxr every winter. It's a twitchy bike at the best of times :D

tempting to do that but not sure I can justify having two bikes on the go, not to mention my missus probably wouldn't be too impressed at the idea! Hopefully by the time winter comes we'll have a few more quid and have a car sorted for work. Got the cheque from the insurance today so Jools is going to use it to pay off the credit card bill from me buying ZXR parts!
