OK,

Is it possible to change camshafts between these models?

I have bought a set of slotted SP cams from a M model but until I open the cover on the motor wont know if there are any differences in them.

Next, i have bought F3 racing cams (Genuine Kawasaki racing) these are "Unfookenobtanium" as they are not available from the factory any more :smt003

The seller has stated they will not fit '89 '90 models :smt017 which if that's the case they will be up for sale - but only if and when I establish they really wont fit, christ i might even buy a L engine to put them in, do they fit the H frame?

Part No for the cam's are:

'89 J1 IN 49118-1071
EX 49118-1072
Finished

'90 J2 IN 49118-1080
EX 49118-1072
Finished

'91 M1-6 IN 49118-1089
EX 49118-1090
Factory Stock

F3 Racer IN 49118-1098
EX 49118-1099
Finished

i dont see why they should be different, the heads are the same, as are the cranks :smt017 :smt017

i've certainly put L cams in an H and vice versa, and have been told by a couple of tuners that they all swap, even to look out for ZX-4 cams to fit to a zxr-L

:smt012 :smt017

L engines fit H frames with the temp sender houseing spun 180 degrees..

Cams described in the 1989 F3 race kit manual,

IN 49118-1074
EX 49118-1075

280' duration both inlet and exhaust, adjustable sprockets.

any info on these ?

its a good read that ..

at least, it gives a clear idea of the differences between stock/sp/kit stuff even if modern tuners would go a bit further than the manual takes you..

wish i could get hold of one for a later model..
