I used some expanding foam to get the basic shape - its really easy to cut. Then body filler over that to get a good surface for whatever I will make it from.

Thats a good idea actually, so you could use any foam i suppose. You would need to smooth off the mould tho otherwise itll have all little bumps in it from the foam?

Yea I just got homebase own brand. I think its best to coat the foam in something. I used filler because it's easy to sand and gets the perfect shape you want, also makes it a bit more rigid.

Thats spot on mate! Been wanting to do some moulding and make some of my own bodyparts but never really knew how, so that'll a great start! If your going to use carbon fibre, do you use the same resins as you would on fibreglass?

No, you would need to use a clear epoxy resin. It's a bit more expensive, but far stronger.
A good website for this stuff is http://www.resin-supplies.net I havent used them yet but will do shortly.

Allright mate Im liking the look of your bike being stripped that is,

Rekon it would make an ace street fighter.

Just a quick question tho,

The rear swing arm, Where has the other bit gone from it ? think the rear hugger gets mounted to it, have you just cut it out? Would this affect any strength of the rear frame ?

Do you mean this bit?

If so you only get that on the H models, for some reason they didn't have it on the L's.

Might as well update on the bike. I've decided to put it back on the road for now, so the fairing bits aren't done. But I have got a few mods so will get a pic of how it looks soon.
This is the dash all singing and dancing, quite pleased with how it turned out.
