You'll need the far eastern language pack installed on your OS or this is going to look strange !!

Pull down the prefix for your bike frame then type in it's number - click the tab key and it will come up with what model , year and designated region ie; Japan,Europe etc....

http://www.kawasaki-motors.com/for_user ... aizenFrame

I'm using a H1 frame and confirmed that today and my MOT sheet also shows it 1st registered May 1989 :smt001

You should be able to do what I done when I lost all the paperwork for my CG

Went to local police station and they told me where their vehicle crimes unit was, I then took the bike to them and they confirmed the frame number as not being stolen and gave me a certificate saying so. That got sent to DVLA and I was given a registration document for the year of the bike then I could finally get it MOT'd and taxed.

Did it cost you anything?

Kawasaki want £47 to ring Kawasaki Japan and they'll provide the info I need.

I was thinking about ringing them direct, but I dunno if they'd send info abroad direct without going to the local Kawasaki.

No idea if it did cost or not - many moons ago now oldman

If it did , it wasn't a lot ( like £10) cause my pockets were mighty shallow in those days :smt010

DVLA was free as it was a date specific plate and not private - don't know if that has changed.

When the feds are filling out the form just tell them it's a 1991 bike and when that goes off to DVLA your plate will be that year.

To save time, and they insist - scrape the paint away from the frame numbers, They need to see that it hasn't been brazed and re-teeped.

I had just smoothrited mine :smt012 but worth it to get it plated.

BTW, even with your kwak document I think your still going to have to prove it's not stolen otherwise it would be all too easy to steal a bike and ask Kwak,Hond,Yam or Suzuki to issue paperwork for them.

I have all the registration paperwork that needs to be filled out (well it's actually done)

To register you need.

Vxx form (forgot the number)
Japanese Log Book or Proof of Age Certificate (Kwak want £47.00)
Import Documents / Customs forms (have these too)
Insurance note (can only insure the bike for 2 weeks off frame no so will do this when have proof of age)

£55.00 + £33.00 for a years tax.

Doesn't ask for anything else.

I have a receipt from the importers anyway if I do :-)

If you look at the details here viewtopic.php?f=69&t=3612 it tells you the difference between an H and a J. Perhaps you can tell us once you've checked the details out?

Finally got round to checking, she has a green rear shock, spring preload adjuster and damping adjuster on top of fork legs, and the gearbox seems quite close, but as I've never experienced another gearbox, I can't be sure weather it is or not :S (first gear goes to roughly 60mph on 15-45 gearing, and tops out roughly 125mph in 6th) as you can see from the pics, shes got an 'H' tail with rear seat (maybe an aftermarket replacement, but again can't be sure)

Hey guys. Just checked that site and apparently my bike is a 1988 ZX400 G1. It confuses me a bit cause I have only come across the H and the L models.

At least 250 for race Homologation rules but likely no more than 500
