Hi,
I have been given a GSXR K6 rear shock and was wondering if it would fit my soon to be H1 track bike, well I say soon, in around 18 ...! I dont have a original rear shock to measure it against and the bike is a mass of bits at the moment, I know the GSXR K1-3 and K4-5 fit but cant find any info for the K6. Can anybody help?
Cheers
Trevor

Hi,
I have the k6 in my L model, had to adjust the ride height adjuster and skim the edge of the battery tray, but apart from tha it went straight in

Cheers mate,
Just got back from Ireland and will be looking at fitting hopefully at the weekend.
The ride height adjuster was that the original that came with the K6 or the zxr shock? plus what is the ride height as I'm building a track bike from a box of bits at the moment so I'm missing a few bits....

i used the ride hight adjuster from the zxr shock though it had to be opened out a nats knacker to fit over the shock, also remember having to do some drilling...think it was to the bottom of the gixer shock from what i recall so the original bolt would fit though don't quote me, you'll soon find out. some people cut the bottom brace off the sub frame but there was no need on mine. just unbolt the sub-frame and that'll give ya enough space to slide the shock past or it'll not go on. at first i thought there was no way it'd slide though the swinging arm but with some gentle persuasion there was a clunk and it slotted straight in. you do need to reposition the battery tray though as that needs cutting up to the point of the sub-frame brace to allow for the piggy back res on the shock. i ended up buying a shorter battery and making another tray just above the origional......all tried and tested at Cadwell yesterday and it was spot on!!

The bike is in bits at the moment, its completely strip down, once the frame has been cleaned I will start putting it back together, I will also need to get a ZXR height adjuster.
Is yours a track/race bike or a standard ZXR and are you running the standard engine as I have a block/gearbox with no head, but I was thinking of getting 0.5 oversize pistons or just getting new rings....
Sorry for all the questions Ive been trying to build a track bike for ages and Ive finally got round to it, but I have lots of bits, but I also have lots of bits missing. So Im starting with the rear, then the engine, wiring and then finally the front.

Hi,
Mine is a trackbike, it is running a fully tuned motor with the 0.5 pistons fitted. I still use the original battery with mine as I am running total loss system on it.

dedicated track bike, all un necessary crap ripped off and a few extras put back on. no engine work yet though but it'll be coming once I've had a few more sessions on it and can see what really needs doing rather than doing it for the sake of it....want a sorted chassis before i start squeezing more power out of it.
the list so far.
GSXR K6 600 master cylinder
HEL braided lines
EBC HH sintered pads
GSXR K5 600 rear shock
Stomp grip

Well if I can mine zxr half as good I will be very happy.....
I'm at present sourcing a cylinder head so I can start to rebuild the engine, but the workshop build is taking a little longer then I though.
So what tyres you running? and how did you find Cadwell Park, many years ago I race Formula Fords there and always remember it as being a track that sorts the men from the boys....!
I'm hoping to go to brands hatch this weekend and spy a few the 400s, well be nosey lol

Guys,
I'm looking to fit a K6 shock as well. does one of you have a recommended setup for track use? compression, rebound, preload?
Thanks
Roy

Made it fit perfectly.. Spring rate is a bit hard though.. Now have to find a proper setup for it..
If someone a good starting position to start from that would be vey much appreciated..
