aye, his add has gone off motoforum too....
I thought they looked good, that rear seat he had made was good. I did'nt think the front fairing looked like rmkd as it did'nt have his trademark snout. but they did seem to fasten in the same way

At least he was offering to make them. I phoned someone else!!!! about making me a set as I thought it was how he made money BUT it seemed like it was to much trouble for him All I got was "Phone me back in a month or so Might be able to make some then" Thats handy when the season starts in about a 2 months and i need to get them sprayed. Suppose I shoudn't have expected anything else from someone who dosent even reply to personnel mails they get :smt013

Oh ok I didn't realise you only made "bodywork for appreciative friends" sorry But thought asking about having a standard slipper clutch modified so it worked was too much trouble too or maybe be it was just too much trouble to even be bothered to send a reply???

Where have i advertised that i modify clutches?it was mentioned in an article in PB that we had one... we spent hours upon hours perfecting the slipper clutch and then are asked if we would explain how we had done it because 'they worked at an engineering company and could have one modified'...not really eah?apart from that Mike Saunders did the machining work and has since changed jobs and can no longer access the equipment he used...as for replying to pm's on forums? my phone number is redily available and i will help anyone i can as quick as i can and as economicaly as possible. But to be honest unless that engine of Chris Smiths has had anything done to it i think youve more to worry about than a slipper clutch.

I never said you did modify clutches I simply asked your advice I thought the Idea of the forum was to give advice so I if had Phoned you would have told me??? AS for modifying it myself I have put a copy of what me PM actually said on it.
Hi I am racing a ZXR400 next year In Derby Phoenix with Mark Jordan. He said you may be able to help me I have been riding a bike with a slipper clutch in for the past 3 years and would like to put one in this bike Mark Mentioned you modifyed the standard one and got it to work? Can you tell me what you did to it please or would you be willing to modify mine We have a machine shop at work so it,s not a problem but don't want to steal your Idea's I notice on the bike you built it has an inspection cover welded to the clutch cover, Is that to make it easy to adjust slip?
Thanks for any help you can give
Cheers Phil

Given the cost and time spent in getting a slipper clutch working on a ZXR400 and the very small performance gains it would bring it would make much more sense to go on a diet and lose a few pounds.......you'd gain more lap time and feel better for it and actually save money cos you'd be eating less.

It would take me hours to explain how we modified the clutch and i dont think the place to discuss the 'intricate' side of what we did is on a forum or a pm...Yes we did get one working sucessfully and YES i would talk over what we did to get it working properly...as for cost? and advantage? over disadvantages?...disadvantages are...it wont bump start due to the slipper action...and when you become familiar with zxrs you will find hot starting issues...so the option is to run the generator? thats a step backwards? or get a better ignition that will start on lower voltage? or put a 24volt jump start arrangement on? that is just a few of the problems we came across...the list goes on...As for fairings and bodywork??? im sure John will only be too willing to make some for you...I find fiberglass difficult to work with in cold weather being oil based its thicker when cold and cures alot slower so you tend to use more and and the product is heavier...i dont have a big workplace so i tend not to push that side of my work...My supplier also has some of these issues and so takes January off...hence why i said phone back at the end of Jan when i could get some materials.

Why do you need a slipper clutch? Just turn the tickover up to 3000 rpm and bobs your uncle.

hi all,
i asked for the ad to be removed as a finger of suspicion was being pointed at me. thats not why i made the fairings. i took the comments quite personnally. perhaps my ad was misleading as i used my old bike with rmkd fairing to show the scoop, not the fairing, and the bike that i used to show my fairing had rmkd mudguard fitted, but i stand by my comment before, where did it say i was doing mud guards??
i wouldn't just copy someones work that i have a great deal of respect for, and the fairings ended up simarly fastened to rmkd as i used a standard headlighted fairing to do the top, which gives that break there and just married the bottom,.... which was origanally a race products one and made some small changes to that....., and the top up with some cut down road panels. i won't be making these until i redesign my fairing.
sometimes i take these forums to seriously!
