Am getting to the final stages of the race bike and small details. Fitted the steering damper and that reminded me that with the damper i need to restrict steering lock. Have had a quick look at using the lower bolt for the intrument mount to install a couple (one either side) of homemade restrictors but is there a better easier smarter way??

Thats how mine are done....................never had a problem
If your on the bike and hitting the lock stops the next thing you'll hit is the tarmac
I'm sure that the steering damper can NOT be allowed to act as a lock stop.........even under ACU rules

Thanks guys - I dont expect to have to use the steering locks but the rules are clear - damper cannot be allowed to act as a steering lock so without the restrictors it wont pass scrutineering - the onyl reason it passed last season was because I hadnt got the damper fitted but even then there was mumbling about trapped hands. fingers etc

I've got a genuine one here that bolts onto where the splitter for the brake lines go.
Will need it myself for getting my ZRX mot'd as I cut away some of the stop on the headstock when I done theUSD conversion so that will pad it up again.
Can do you photos and dimensions if you want to get one made up or do yourself - let me know.

I guess dimensions you can take from your bottom yolk but will measure up if you want.
Made from what looks like 1.8mm steel plate, advantage being as you'll see is you can then weld a blob on to adjust turn
original has the same 1.8mm plate welded on making it 4mm and damper side has been welded out to 8mm.
Very neat simple solution that's adjustable.
Part Number: 11057-1511

Drew - great - just the job. No need to take dimesnions - I can sort that out from the spacing for the bolts. many thanks for help.

No worries, seen you were stuck what to do with your coils, i have a set bolted onto a bracket with extended leads for Rambox use.
My initial thought is they mount up in the cowl but haven't taken them out to the bike and plugged in to see if they locate else where. I do have an image of a racer with them sitting down near the generator cover on a mount and wondered if that what I've got - again, I'll hunt them out and show you some pic's . if nothing else it will show you how to make a cradle for them to be zip tied anywhere you like.

Have been out in the garage finishing off the coils - after thinking this through I welded an ally plate to the support for the front nosecone support and mounted them on that. I will need to run extended HT leads but would need to do that anyway and am hoping that I can run the leads through the frame electrical ports to keep them tidy and out of the way. This might be a problem if they end up next to control wiring but If not I will run them down above the rad and on either side of the ram air inlet
Will get a photo later

Drew- have been cutting some plate to make the steering lock restrictor and it is going to be much better than the idea i first thought of so many thanks for the pics - great help.
I will post the pattern on the site when finished - simpler that other options I was thinking on.
Would like to see the coil cradel pics when you get a chance. The nose cone is fine for the time being but if I ever go with ramair intake throught he nosecone then they will need to move again

OK guys - no laughing but my tech drawing days are long gone - this is the pattern for the steering lock restrictor that goes with MM photos above. I have done double sized but it is easy to make and works a treat. should be obvious what bending is required around AA, BB and CC
I cut out by hand from a bit of scrap, filed to right dimensions and bent in the vice. I initially cut it out in plastic from an old milk carton to make sure it would all fit. (blue peter badge or what??) It is adjustable by adding wled etc as covered above by MM - design rights are his - I am only the draftsman
