Hi guys Im wanting to put clip ons on my ZXR400 L but what do I need to do with all the controls on the handle bars? the lights, indicators and brake lights are obvisouly not needed but what do I do with the choke? I have bought a small push button starter unit so can I just scrap everything else??
Im a bit confused

the controls off the handlebars should just unplug from the loom

As lewis said the controls will unplg from the loom.
you can do away with the choke assembly, just take it off the carbs, its simple enough.

Jay - be careful about the scrutineering - the push button starter - does it have a kill switch? Kill switch is required
The existing zxr400 starter is pretty good and is easily kept on the RHS bar - you will need it in any case unless you are going for an aftermarket quick throttle as the switch/throttle share the same body.
The LHS switches etc all get ditched anlong with the choke. Replace choke with a long tiewrap which comes out the side of the frame and is pulled and held when starting . Once engine is warmed up you wont need choke in any event!!
ps - why change the existing clipons?

Im just trying to save weight anywhere I can, The guys at Shirlaws took me round one of there zxr's and the main thing that kept poping up was saving weight so im just looking over the bike and trying to see what i can get rid of or change to a lighter option.

i agree with davw about the kill switch/starter. They are a good switch. You can mount it on the left handlebar to give you room for a quick action throttle/aftermarket m/cylinder.
