Hi all, i need some recommendations from you guys as to what direction i should go in with my suspension, i weigh about 10.5 stone in leathers im looking to use the bike for trackdays mainly, with the possibility of F400 racing at some stage. Really needs to be as cheap as possible!

Just picked up a track bike with a GSXR shock, but not rode it yet....

Yep =- thats mine. Its off the current Cookstown F400 bike - needless to say - not ridden by me. Robbie Lyall rode it to victory this year. However, the shock is in good shape and if you can get an Ohlins at a better price - let me know

Front end, regardless of what others say - get SP forks as the rising rate makes a huge difference Then have them converted to cartridges making them much the same as modern Ohlins USDs . These Showa forks were the best of their time and only need slight modernisation to make them as good as anything out there.

Is the H rear shock more adjustable thatn the L with its remote reservoir?
How much is it likely to cost to convert SP forks to cartridges?

Also, MoriMan, i seem to remember you had a load of forks once, am i right or just going mad?

Either the H or L SP shock is the fully adjustable shock , next in line would be the one with the remote reservoir with no rebound dial.

When fitting H<=>L shock you need the corresponding link arm.

Yeah, I got a bundle SP L forks in the storeroom all with cartridges in them - sold my last standard set a few weeks back and they now have cartridges in them , buyer was well happy with their condition

Just as a note I have fitted a ZX6R shocker to the rear and performs much better. Also raises the ride height by about 10mm. I will be measuring ride heights, rake etc. Next week to see the effect on geometry and will report back. Was planted at Mallory with little effect on stability. Shook its head a little down Devils Elbow but a damper will sort that.

The undertray needs to be remove as the piggy back shock fouls the battery box. new top bush made, bottom holes need redrilling and has a custom made ride height adjuster. EASY! Mines a trackday/hillclimb bike anyway so I run an alarm battery located in the tail so has no issues with the undertray.
