my bloody bike fell of the paddock stand yesterday!!!!
its marked the right hand fork leg......not to worried about that but i ts left a small mark/dent/ping/pitt on the sanction????? (silver bit the slides in and out) does this mean the forks are now f**ked???? when i depress the suspension on the sanction there is a light film of clean oil,im sure it never di this before and the left fork doesnt, is this coincidence that the fork seal has just gone or because of this pitt/ping/dent/chip whatever you call it and new seals will just leak aswell.

anyway let this be a lesson not to buy cheap paddock stands as the same stand dropped my brand new 600 miles k10 gixer and scratched all the fairing.

to add to my bad luck i dropped the carbs trying to rescue the kwak when it fell resulting in them shattering.........then i chucked the screwdriver i was holding in a bit of a tantrum resulting in a broken mobile phone.

got to run with the lows to fly on the highs i suppose

and yes the leak is very liky to have been caused by the mark/dent.
replace or rechrome is prob the only fix

i know that situation to well mate.
Its a pity we can never leave the disaster zone when the first signs appears.. have to smash something!
Id ask around see if anyone has a spare slider. Did'nt cansa on here have to smash part of his forks to get his bushes out? he may have a spare slider?

Aye, avoid the MotoGP rear paddock stand that's on eBay. Front's fine but the rear collapses under the weight of a 400! Have to kick them back in to shape most of the time.

I've got another fork stancion lined up. im not sure which side its from are they interchangeable i.e. the left will fit the right fork?????? when i look brand new, they are sold either left or right. but ive been told they fit both by the bloke selling it. i dont want to buy it and find it doesnt fit.

i've left the garage well alone for a few days so i think it might be safe enough to go back in. really hope so. cant afford to keep breaking things!

I dont see any reason why they would be different, other than the fork bottoms id imagine they are identicle.

yeah thats what i was thinking but they screw on to the fork bottoms/brackets (for the calipers and front wheel spindle) and im not sure if they would sit on the thread properly to get the bottoms/brackets to face the right way, so it will leave me with a ever so slightly lob sided bike which will cause all sorts of handling issues.......... but im not a mechanic just dont want to mess
