Is there any difference between? i sow yesterday h1 frame it looks different than my l3 frame ... maybe looks better for me, but is there any difference in weight? why most race bikes are H1-2? why not L models, also to use the thread, what can be done on one bike to be lighter ... maybe i prefer lighter bike than more BHP ... (racing for fun on tracks and roads, not a professional.

The H1/H2 frames are a fair bit heavier than the L. Im not sure by how much, but you can feel a fair difference if you hold one in each hand.
On the plus side, you would have to go some to break a H1/H2 frame compared to the L.
I think its more the other way round with the most popular zxr for racing is the L by quite a margin. Could be due to the fact there are far more L models available, or the sharper steering, or the younger age of them

the weight is the thing i need ... so i keep the l frame, can i ask here what are the advantages of the racing loom and what mean totasl loss ... what i lose and what i gain, also what is F3, is this modification of zxr400? i found zx6r f3 ...

im interested to know the exact weight of an l frame,can anyone help,thanks

and just wondering what would cause the l model to have sharper steering,thanks

the 'f3' i think you mean is the factory race parts, very rare, moriman on this forum will be able to tell you more.
the 'f3' in regards to the 6r, was just an early model i think.
The L models frame has a steeper steering rake than the H1/H2, hence the 'quicker' steering

F3 was a racing class for 400cc four strokes and 250cc two strokes.................based on production bikes

it grew up to become SS400

l frame 8 kg
h1 frame 8.5 kg
not a lot in the difference.

bits from the H model such as yokes etc dont fit the L model so will be the same the other way round. If you use a H frame you need H parts all the way through, and with most people running L's (apart from in forgotten era of course) you will be restricted on what you can beg steal and borrow should the inevitable happen at a meeting.

Parts are easier to get hold of from tuners etc for L models IMHO. Get an L, have done with it.

bear in mind though, the H1 swingarm, forks, yokes, tank and subframe all weigh more than L stuff too .. it adds up.

H2 isnt so bad, lighter swingarm..(and maybe rear wheel/sprocket carrier?) but heavier (larger) rear wheel spindle and steering stem (compared to H1)

As for the steering feel, the L's carry their weight further forward than the H's, and the seating position is slightly higher and further forward too.


want a light "H" frame ? start with a ZX-4.. havent weighed them, but they're noticeably lighter.

i have a zx4 frame ,its an 88 one.il weigh it.

the rear wheel im puting on my project ,the whole lot tire ,sprocket carrier,etc is 4 kg lighter than my 89 h model wheel,weighed them today,i got my dog bones today.il stick up a pic of them their less than half the weight of the origonal 2.

yes the alu bones goes in the right direction to make the bike lighter!
