I thought as much, very lucky, saved some serious pennies, I had to go the +1mm route which as you probably know costs rather a lot vsad

Yeah, shoulder getting better, but it's going to be a long process, it's never going to be normal again though vsad The joys of racing :smt004

Hi Greville,

What is the cost of the 1mm piston / ring kit and where did you source them ? Out of interest, what is the final capacity estimate - Maths never my subject.

Kind regards,

Mark

Hi Mark

Off the top of my head I think they were £400, but bear in mind the rebore, which I think was £80. So all in near £500 confuddled Dynotech source them as they do my engine, I can't remember what make they are now, maybe JE or something confuddled

As for cc, it give very close to 12cc extra over standard, 6cc over the +.5mm pistons. IMHO not worth the expense but if you need a rebore it's the only option now, or source some good standard barrells. Or get extra lucky like Jake :smt002

If you've already got them, then it's only the cost of a rebore to fit them. But, you can't get rings, so in the future, refreshes are pointless without them. If your standard bores are OK, the stick with standard pistons and new rings, sell the +.5 pistons. Otherwise go directly to +1mm and use the proceeds from selling the +.5mm pistons to help pay for it. Bear in mind that perhaps not all clubs will allow a 2% tollerance on bore size, only manufacturers overbore sizes, if at all. RMKD get very good results from standard size pistons(Roger states on here that that's all he uses), Dynotech prepare IoM bikes with standard sizes(the rules so I'm let to believe) and get great results. I'm sure most tuners will get good results with standard pistons, but it surely relies on good bores firstly :smt001

Has anyone found a new reliable source for 0.5 piston rings yet?

Reckon theres a market for some little backstreet engineering co to start making these.
