i toke the old girl to snetterton yesterday and after chasing down a ducati monster the bike died on the back straight! i pulled in, i thought i had blown it up but there was just no power. got it into the pits and found smoke coming from my new battery and it not turning over! now she wont start! i have resently fitted a new rectifier and battery.
the generator cover was bloody hot but not sure if it was the bike. i am running a race loom as its my race bike, but still have the startor and generator. any ideas b4 i replace the lot? lol and wot sort of voltage shud it be charging at just incase it was over charging the battery and that caused the battery to die>

one last question, i am running ram air, blocked off air adjusters and cv carbs, the power of my bike is all between 10-14k revs, wud changing the jetting lower this band? wot jetting do u guys run? thanks alot again

Could be your voltage regulator (rectifier) is stuck and has overcharged and killed the battery. You will need a new battery, turn on all the lights and rev to about 8000 for a few minutes. Measure the battery voltage, it shouldn't go over 14 - 14.5 volts. If it does, fit a new reg rec.
