Bike cutting out when pulling clutch in?

Hi,
just got myself a nice ZXR400 L8 (restricted) and went out on my first long ride on it. I have been out on a few short journeys and the bike is absolutely fine, except it sometimes refuses to hot/warm start without a hand load of throttle.
So I was on some dual carriageways linked by many roundabouts. So I was getting up to speed, around 70-80mph, and then as I am about to reach a roundabout, I would slow down and pull the clutch in, ready to come to a stop or get into a lower gear.
However as I pull the clutch in the bike would cut out, not sputter to death, but cut out. So this is happening almost every time I would clutch in from a high speed. Now when I got back closer to home, at lower speeds, there appears to be no problem, coming from <50mph to clutch in, the bike is fine.
Sorry for the ignorance as this is my first bike and thanks for any advice!
Tom

I fail to understand this..................
If you riding along at 70/80 mph and pull the clutch liver in the bike will rev its head off and the rev limiter will cut in ?
Am I missing something ?
It is possible that you have some sort of problem with the clutch switch but any problem with it would occur regardless of speed.
??
You need to explain this further

Sorry if I am not being clear,
what I mean is,
from high speed, I pull the clutch in, off the gas, to get ready to drop a few gears or just come to a stop, and suddenly the revs will drop as usual but instead of getting to idle, it just cuts out. And this only happens when coming from high speed
Cheers

could it be when your using wide open throttle? then coming down to low revs?
it may be main jets that are to big and are bogging it down an stalling at low revs.. have the carbs been fiddled with?

Umm I don't think I was using wide open throttle. Usually I know I'm about to reach a roundabout, I would be lowering the amount of throttle I use. But I would be coming off about 8k revs and clutching in
I would have no idea if someone has fiddled with the carbs, although the shop I bought it from put in the restrictors for me.

I dont think I will be doing that just yet
on another note I have been searching around, and could this be anything to do with the fuel tank not venting properly? Im going to give the fuel cap a clean when I get the chance and see if that helps

from what i have read (not to do with zxr's but other bikes) if your fuel cap does not vent correctly, then a vacuum occurs inside your fuel tank. This can disrupt the fuel delivery, hence stall. But again Ive only read this, so no idea whether it is the problem with my bike....

Can I ask what was the symptoms on your bike because of this?
Like my problem or just lots of stalling in general?

say a steady 80mph run for a few miles. only 2-3 but come to a roundabout or junction the bike would splutter then cut out and not start. open the cap , listen to the massive hiss, wait a few mins and she would start on the button. not been able to test the new cap as i cracked my block due to no antifreeze. ANTIFREEZE IS A MUST GUYS. TIP OF THE WEEK.

hmmm sounds very familiar, did your bike cut out whilst you were on the throttle or clutch in and off the throttle?
Cheers

clutch in and off throttle.
