HIYA GUYS/GIRLS

GOT MY FRIST ZXR400 YESTERDAY RAN FINE BUT GOT UP THIS MORNING AND TRYED TO START IT BUT NOT LUCK ,

SWICTHED THE IGNITION ON , MADE SURE IT WAS IN NETURAL , THEN HIT THE STARTER BUTTON ! AND NOTHING HAPPEND

ONLY A SMALL NOISE COMING FOR UNDER THE SEAT eg. MAYBE THE FUSE BOX ? I'M NOT SURE ,

CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF YOU HAVE HAD AN PRODLEM LIKE THIS , THANKS

Ok, is this your first bike? if so then please please make sure you dont have the engine kil switch on..... If thats not the problem, i had a few teething problems with my new zxr the other week when i bought it, first thing i did was take the battery straight out and charge it. If your battery doesnt charge then try jump leads from another bike or car, failing a lack of leads then try a bump start, not sure of your level of knowledge, but if you dont know how then just check wikipedia or something. Also it does have petrol right? and the petrol tap is switched to on? As i managed ot do that yesterday, started the bike with tap in off position, used up all the fuel in carbs and cyclinders and then it died until i swtiched the tap on. If none of those work then get back to us with more details such as the noises etc. Also does the bike try and start or just nothing at all?

Yeah ive done all of that and its still not working.
the noice is a buzzing noice from the fuse box. all fuses are ok as i check them The noice still happens even as the jump leads are attached to a car. i am a mechanic and dont normally get stuck on an engine problem but this one has thrown me but i do normally work on cars.

possible starter solenoid/flat battery.

Sounds like a solenoid problem. Can you hear a tick by the seat area when you press the sterter button?

Starter solenoid is on the left hand side of the bike. If you take off the rear panel there will be a rubber housing attached to the subframe about half way along, the starter solenoid sits in there, there will be a couple of wires going into it.
Pull it out teh housing and tap it a few times with the back end of a screw driver to free it up. Then try starting again. Try this a few times and it should go. (if it is a problem with teh solenoid that is!)

Id check the battery first of all, make sure its charged, if it still does the clicking sound after you have charged it then yes it may be the starter solenoid.

hi ya guys , i have tryed to free off the starter solenoid and still no luck ! the duzzing niose is definatly coming from the fuse box ! 100% if i press on it the buzzing niose stops ? , dose any one have any more idears ??

also has any one got an starter solenoid + an fuse box going around ???

sounds like somethings shorting in the fusebox, strip it down.

i have a spare fusebox but im selling all the spares as part of selling the bike so will have to see if it sells or not first.

hello everone , i have brought an new fuse box and starter relay and an starter solonoid , and still no luck i have striped the bike fairing off to look at all of the wireing and all looks good ?? is there any one in norfolk willing to come have a look ?? thanks ant

mine used to click a little, was a dodgy connection on the starter button.

did it start ok when i picked it up the other day?

also, i presume it starts ok when bump starting the bike?

must be something simple if it was ok the other day.

thanks for replyin , yer it worked fine sounds great lol , yer it dose work fine when bumped start , but the bike will just not trun over just the buzzing/clicking you say it could be dodgy connection on the starter button ?? on the handly bars right ?? lol wb
