Right so I'm in the garage, quick update
Just checked the timing chain, got the crank lined up and the exhaust lined up but the inlet is under the line, I counted the chain and it's 31 instead of 30 so someone must have advanced the timing, tempted to put it back how it should be.
This could be the root of all the problems.
Maybe they tried it to try make mid range better, it didn't work so rather than going through the hassle of fixing it they got it running (by loosening the plugs) then sold it
Hmmmmm what to do, any ideas anyone.
What would you do??
